Can you tell us about the gas shut off . Because safety is our top priority, we were looking at the situation moment by moment and as the sinkhole continued to grow we decided it was hazardous. We needed to get back out and shut it off. We used our valve system to shut off seven valves. That impacts 2,500 customers. Their gas has been impacted. We are going to be working through the night and through the day to make sure we restore service safely and as quickly as possible. People will miss the hot shower. Can you give always rough estimate . It is a work in progress, i know, of when the street is reopened and when people get their gas back . The street will depend on the sinkhole. That is something the town of moraga will have impacted. As forgetting service back we are bringing in 100 gas service representatives. These folks will go doortodoor and turn on gas. To be further sliding and earth movement. Were very concerned. Reporter the land directly behind the two damaged homes is a watershed. In january, there was a smaller slide that damaged the bike trail. East bay mod and east Bay Regional Parks closed the trail but saw no threat at the time to the homes above it. The area was assessed and at that time there was no evidence. At that point in time we acted on the information that we had. The information that we had told us that the issue was here, along the trail. Weve been out since friday. Reporter tim owns the house that sustained most of the damage. He moved his family out and is now working with an attorney in east bay which he believes could have been more communicative two months ago. No initial contact directly from them about this. A couple of problems coming off the waldo grade next report. Breaking news in San Francisco a passive Fire Destroys what is last of a Mission District Apartment Building and this is the same building that burned 14 months ago. We are showing what remains. Alyssa . You can see the building is boarded up she firefighters had to cut their way in. This building was condemned after another fire tore through it a year ago. Firefighters were called at midnight and arrived to find flames shooting out the roof, the threealarm fire spread very quickly burning debris. It was supposed to be vacant after the fire in january of last year that killed one and displaced others. The firefighters are suspicious. Someone get inside and started this fire. It was boarded up and there should have been no one inside and no heat source so we probably had squatters inside. Probably had a heat source that get it going. It is still under investigation. Flareups. It took an hour and a half to get the fire under control. It broke out around midnight in a vacant building with flames shooting out of the roof and neighbors across the street had to be evacuated. There was a large fire at the same building last john. January. Firefighters are suspicious that squatters may have been staying inside and set off a heat source. We had a hard time getting into the build because of the doors barred up and the windows were boarded up from the previous fire so we had to cut our way in. The stairway was filled with debris and we could not make it to the interior stairway so we had to climb the fire escape. Those over evacuated residents have been allowed to go home and you can see firefighters are now climbing into the trucks and they are preparing to leave but this is a large investigation to find out what the source was, how the fire started.
