A surge in vandalism at schools during the December holidays threatens to delay the start of the academic year at the affected places of learning. Alphendale Senior Secondary in Vergenoeg and Hlokoma Senior Secondary in Mdantsane were among the schools in Buffalo City that were vandalised. The recurring burglaries and vandalism left Alphendale Senior Secondary with no electricity because all the lights and electric cables were ruined.
Two East London schools are worried how they will be able to reopen when term begins on January 19 after recurring burglaries and vandalism during the holidays.
