MANILA, PHILIPPINES (27 May 2021) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $116 million green loan with Lien Lap Wind Power Joint Stock Company (Lien Lap), Phong Huy Wind Power Joint Stock Company (Phong Huy), and Phong Nguyen Wind Power Joint Stock Company (Phong Nguyen) to build and operate three 48-megawatt (MW) wind farms, totaling 144 MW, in Quang Tri Province, Viet Nam. The project will increase Viet Nam’s wind power capacity by 30%, helping the country meet the rapidly growing demand for energy.
Lien Lap, Phong Huy, and Phong Nguyen are owned by Power Construction Joint Stock Company No.1 (PCC1) and RENOVA, Inc.

VN wind power sector attractive to investors

With an increasing demand for electricity in Vietnam, the wind power construction sector has flourished, with local and foreign firms getting in on the action.
A top executive at Coteccons, one of the biggest realty firms in the country, told media the firm may invest in wind power construction due to the opportunities on offer.

The administration of central Quang Tri province has approved in principle three wind power projects with total capital approximating 5.8 trillion VND (251.7 million USD).
They consist of the Phong Nguyen project, worth over 1.9 trillion VND in Tan Thanh and Huong Phung communes; Phong Huy, worth 1.913 trillion VND in Tan Thanh and Huong Tan communes; and Lien Lap, worth 1.973 trillion VND in Tan Lien, Tan Lap, and Huong Tan communes and Khe Sanh township.
All of these localities are located in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa.
