LOWER MERION â For the second time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Abramson Senior Care has adapted its Birnhak Transitional Care Center, which shares a campus with Main Line Healthâs Lankenau Medical Center, to serve COVID-19 patients in need of care after their Lankenau hospital stay and before going home. To greater serve the health system, the Birnhak TCC is also bringing in patients from other local hospitals who have patients in need of transitional care. The transitional care center is also prepared, if needed, to provide hospice care for these patients.
In April of 2020, the 35-bed Birnhak Transitional Care Centerâs health care workers, support staff and equipment were called into service for recovering and hospice-level COVID-19 patients to help mitigate demand within Lankenau and help ensure as many resources as possible remained available to treat more critical COVID-19 patients.
