ACC backs Uluru Statement from the Heart in open letter to PM

The Association of Corporate Counsel Australia (ACC Australia) has outlined its support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart in an open letter addressed to Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The legal body sent a letter to the PM earlier this month following a vote from the board to move forward in supporting the statement.
The Uluru Statement from the Heart calls on organisations to make a submission in support of “real, fair and practical change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament”.

Long-serving Labor MP Warren Snowdon will quit federal politics at the next election after three decades.
The 70-year-old is the last serving member to have sat in Old Parliament House, having been first elected in 1987 as the member for the former seat of Northern Territory.

He told the House of Representatives on Thursday he would be rolling up the swag but said the fight for justice for Indigenous Australians would remain ongoing. The only reason I became a member of parliament and remain a member of parliament is because of the support I have been getting from the Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory, Mr Snowdon said.
