Phillipsburg Fest
Looking ahead this week the first ever Philipsburg Fest is scheduled for this Saturday.
Business owners and non profits decided that the area needed a summer event after Heritage Days was canceled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19 gathering concerns.
The day will kick off with the Wilderness City 5k race at the Cold Stream Dam at 9 am, and will feature an all day car show and Happy Valley Cruise Fundraiser for the Hope Gala.
Fireworks and a performance by Grammy award winning rapper Coolio will happen at 10 pm to conclude the event.
“After the fireworks, that’s when things are going to go pretty wild. Coolio is going to be on. We’re bringing in a talent called Estragos. He’s got his own recording stuff he’s going to play.

PHILIPSBURG Pat Romano, owner of the We Are Inn in Philipsburg, has a message for the public: “We are … back!”
Romano sought and was granted permission by the Philipsburg Borough Council to have a fireworks display on July 10. Fireworks are a beloved tradition of Philipsburg’s annual Heritage Days, which was canceled this year because of COVID concerns.
The Heritage Days committee must begin planning the festival months in advance and canceled when mandates and restrictions were still uncertain.
“Once the Heritage Days committee announced they were canceling, we sat back and thought, ‘We gotta do something,’” Romano said.
