The Philippines was the first Asian country and the third in the world after the US and the United Kingdom to send troops to South Korea after it was invaded by North Korea on June 25, 1950.
This year marked the 70th anniversary of the Korean War and to commemorate the event, the Korean Embassy in the Philippines, along with South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense, Korean Cultural Center, and MPAV recently held the “2020 Philippine Korean War Virtual Conference: Revisiting the Philippines in the Korean War 70th Anniversary.”

In a statement, the Office of the President (OP) said Duterte conferred on Han the award and thanked him for his valuable contributions in enhancing the bilateral relations between the Philippines and South Korea since he assumed the post in January 2018.
In his meeting with outgoing South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man on Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte recognized the “timely emergency and humanitarian assistance” such as the donation of face masks and other personal protective equipment, medicines, test kits and rice, the Palace said.
