Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (Patafa) President Philip Ella Juico gives an update on the Filipino tracksters’ bid for the coming Tokyo Olympics in Tuesday’s session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) online Forum.
Juico will talk about the preparations being done by Olympic-bound pole vaulter EJ Obiena and the other tracksters as well who are bidding to qualify for the Summer Olympiad scheduled from July 23 to August 8.
On the side, Juico is also expected to discuss in partial, plans of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) to finally hold competitions this year.
The 10:00 a.m. public sports program is presented by San Miguel Corp., Go For Gold, MILO, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. (PNVFI) has prepared a 10-point goal strategy to strengthen the sport in the country.
PNVFI President Tats Suzara said the agenda touches issues from the grassroots up to the elite level, including making volleyball the number one family sport entertainment in the Philippines.
“We want to touch these points one by one for the growth of Philippine volleyball,” said Suzara in Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Online Forum.
Among the highlights of the 10-point strategy is to form a federation-owned national league similar to the ones in Thailand.
Having a national league would gather some of the best teams across the country.

Philippine Superliga teams PLDT and Cignal are set to transfer to the Premier Volleyball League.
Organizer Sports Vision President Ricky Palou confirmed this Thursday night a few hours after the league announced its three-year broadcast partnership with Cignal TV.
“We’ve got PLDT. They confirmed that they are joining the PVL and likewise the Cignal team,” Palou said during guesting in The Game on One Sports+.
Known as the PLDT Home Fibr Hitters in the Superliga, the team won bronze in the 2019 Grand Prix Conference under coach Roger Gorayeb. Their last stint was at the 2019 Invitational, where they finished fifth.
The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) granted provisional recognition to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. (PNVFI) as the national association of the sport.
