Palace: P12M worth of aid assured for residents affected by Taal eruption

PANTI, GMA News Published July 2, 2021 11:28am Malacañang on Friday said the government has allotted P1 million worth of food and P11 million worth of non-food items to aid residents affected by the previous day s eruption of Taal Volcano. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the aid will be provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 4A, which is now on heightened alert. We are closely monitoring the situation in Taal after the phreatomagmatic eruptions that occurred in Taal Volcano, Roque said in a statement. Evacuation activities in high-risk barangays in Laurel and Agoncillo as well as in other nearby municipalities in Batangas province are ongoing.

endIndex: Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 5) The Supreme Court said it deferred a decision on petitioners plea for a temporary restraining order against the Anti-Terrorism Act without a comment from the government s top lawyer on the alleged intimidation and red-tagging of the law s critics. According to a March 2 resolution obtained by the media on Friday, the Supreme Court en banc resolved to await the comment of the Office of the Solicitor General before acting on the joint motion for TRO filed by the counsels for petitioners. In the same resolution, the high court granted Solicitor General Jose Calida s bid for another 15-day extension, from February 18 until March 5 within which to submit his comment. It s still not clear if Calida has already filed his comment.
