New head announced at historic Hereford school

A NEW headmaster is set to take the reins at a Hereford school this year after the current head announced he would be stepping down after 16 years at the helm. Dr Michael Gray, of Harrow School, was chosen from more than 50 candidates to succeed Paul Smith as headmaster of Hereford Cathedral School. Kings College graduate Dr Gray taught at Halliford School in Shepperton and St Edward’s School, Oxford, before joining Harrow in 2013 as head of politics. He later became academic and universities director before taking up his appointment as director of studies in 2019 with overall responsibility for all academic matters at Harrow.
