STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island hospitals have recently treated about 12 coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine breakthrough infections cases in which patients test positive for the virus after receiving complete vaccination yet top borough doctors continue to stress confidence in the available vaccines.
There have been no deaths from breakthrough infections, managing physicians at the Island’s two hospital systems said, stressing that the cases most likely would have been more severe without vaccination.
