Gaming outfit Mighty Kingdom completes $4m pre-IPO

Australia’s largest independent game studio, Mighty Kingdom, has completed its A$4 million pre-initial public offering (pre-IPO).

It received strong demand from institutional, family and sophisticated investors, resulting in a heavily over-subscribed offer, exceeding expectations.

Founded in Adelaide in 2010, Mighty Kingdom has grown to over 80 developers, with minimal outside investment. In the past decade it has released more than 20 games to more than 50 million players worldwide across multiple platforms.

Mighty Kingdom has completed a $4 million pre-IPO fund raising which chief operating officer Tony Lawrence said was heavily over-subscribed.
Former ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie will chair games developer Mighty Kingdom.

Mr Lawrence said growth rates had risen during the pandemic as more people stayed at home and played a variety of games.
The company works on games for mobile phones, PC platforms and the popular console market where Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch are fierce rivals. We ve seen very healthy growth in multi-player games in particular, Mr Lawrence said.
