Police: Saratoga man tried to take car from West Avenue motorist

SARATOGA SPRINGS - A 19-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly trying to steal cars along West Avenue and Washington Street, Saratoga Springs Police said.
Police arrived on the scene at about 4:30 p.m. to find the young man allegedly in the road. While some officers directed traffic, others police said, tried to talk to him. Police said he then allegedly got into an open passenger window of a vehicle on West Avenue. Once inside, police said, he allegedly tried to force the 48-year-old woman driver out of the car so he could take possession of it.

There is a chance for severe weather Wednesday afternoon in the Capital Region, with strong winds and thunderstorms possible from noon to 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
