Tourism Rebounding in Caye Caulker
La Isla Cariñosa may have taken a hit from COVID-19, but the island is rebounding fast. Today, News Five checked out the tourist action that is bringing back the economic recovery and raising residents’ spirits.

The once bustling island of Caye Caulker, a highly visited tourist destination in Belize, was not spared the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. But today, eighteen months after, there is a lot of activity.

“It’s taken Caye Caulker a little longer than other destinations across the country to see the visiting overnight tourists, but they are here now and we’re just starting to bubble, if I may. We very much appreciate the visits that we are getting right now.”

G.G. Colville Young Retires!
Sir Colville Young officially left the Office of the Governor General today at an official ceremony held to honor his life of service to the people of Belize. The Governor General handed in his resignation last month after almost three decades as the representative of Queen Elizabeth the second.

As he arrived at the House of Culture in Belize City to officially demit office of the Governor General of Belize, Sir Colville Young was welcomed with the royal salute – a musical greeting and mark of respect for the man who has served as the representative to Belize’s Head of State Queen Elizabeth the Second for twenty eight years.
