Tom Juhas came up with the perfect nickname.
After a few practices with Christian Cano when he was a freshman, Juhas, the baseball coach at Northeast High School, watched his rookie and he immediately started calling his guy Bugs Bunny. It wasn’t because of his hopping ability.
“You remember Bugs Bunny baseball?” Juhas said of Cano, a junior. “First base? Bugs Bunny. Second base? Bugs Bunny. Outfield? Bugs Bunny. Pitcher? Bugs Bunny.
“It really didn’t matter where I put him. I would put him anywhere and he could do it. He might need a little work, but he wanted to play and the lights are never too bright for him.
A Philadelphia man is accused of fatally shooting another man inside the Philadelphia Mills mall last month, according to the Attorney General s Office.
The AG s office said in a news release Thursday that Gregory Smith fatally shot Dominic Billa, 21, at the mall on March 29. The mall, formerly Franklin Mills, borders Bensalem in Bucks.
Smith, 21, is charged with murder, attempted murder and possessing an instrument of crime. He is accused of shooting Billa after a fight inside the mall food court, according to authorities.
At the time of the killing, Smith was out on bail in several cases in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, according to the AG s office. The charges in those cases include firearms violations, drug possession with intent to deliver, retail theft and resisting arrest, the release states.
A fight broke out in the food court that afternoon and escalated into gunfire as witnesses reported hearing multiples shots inside the mall, which was placed on lockdown amid a search for the shooter.
A video posted on Instagram from a security camera at one of the food court shops shows portions of the fight that preceded the shooting.
Billa-Lewis, who was pronounced dead at the scene, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Arrest made in Philadelphia Mills Mall shooting that left 21-year-old man dead
Gregory Smith, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged in the murder of Dominic Billa, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on March 29 when shots rang out near the orange entrance around 5 p.m. after police say a fistfight broke out.
Back when the incident occurred, surveillance video from inside the mall captured portions of the altercation and the ensuing commotion.
