The Philadelphia Film Society is hosting a series of family-friendly movie screenings this spring. The organization will hold a sensory-friendly showing of 'The Incredibles,' as well as family matinee screenings of 'Alice in Wonderland,' 'My Neighbor Totoro' and 'Lilo & Stitch.' All presentations will take place at the Philadelphia Film Center in Center City.
The Philadelphia Film Center is holding a 'Best Picture Week' with screenings of all 10 movies nominated for best picture at the 94th Academy Awards. The Oscars marathon will be held over the course of the week from Monday, March 21 through Saturday, March 26. A pass to attend the screenings in Center City is $50 for the general public and $40 for Philadelphia Film Society members.
Actor, director, and diplomat Sidney Poitier died on Jan. 6, 2022. He was 94 years old. His decades-long acting career garnered him respect and praise among fellow actors and audiences, and resulted in him becoming the first Black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1963.
