Where there had been steep cliffs eroded into the dunes in the north end of Strathmere, now there are no dunes left there at all, and no beach through most of the tide cycle. Locals and officials say a beach replenishment project set to begin adding sand to Strathmere beaches will arrive just in time.
Staging will soon begin for about two weeks’ worth of beach replenishment in Ocean City’s south end before the project moves to the sand-starved Strathmere section of Upper Township.
