Thirty years ago, if you used the words hot dog and gourmet in the same sentence, you d have likely sent a classically trained chef (and others, for that matter) into a conniption fit. But now, stuff that was once considered junk food can be a vehicle for much-needed improvement and creativity, just like cake and consomme. And Dog Haus is a big reason why. The California-based chain of gourmet, all-beef hot dog shops has taken over America with its dogs doused in barbecue sauce and cheese, wrapped in bacon, and set inside King s Hawaiian rolls. And their empire is poised to expand.

CultureMap reports. The Pasadena, California-based company began franchising in 2013, and now boasts 35 locations across the country and 14 more set to open soon. Six of those existing stores are based in the Lone Star State. Eats and drinks will center around fresh, nitrate- and hormone-free weiners and burgers, a biergarten pub with 24 beers on tap and the brand’s signature Haus Cocktails.

Art shippers say they are experiencing “teething problems” transporting works to European countries since the UK ended its transition period and completed its separation from the European Union on 1 January.
Victor Khureya, the operational director at the London-based art logistics company Gander & White, says the main issues are “additional costs, administration and time”. Since the Brexit deadline, the firm has sent one shipment to Germany, which was delayed by a day after customs officials in France “appeared to have not been trained for the new procedure”, Khureya says.
