A Snohomish County judge sentenced Elmer Nash, Jr. to 10 years in prison and parole for the rest of his life for the killing of an Everett firefighter 34 years ago. At 47-years-old Elmer Nash, Jr. walked in the courtroom for his sentencing, just one year younger than the man he killed. “I wish I could turn back the clock and take a match out of a kid’s hand,” testified Parks’ oldest daughter, Erin Van Ry.

Selby College has opened the centre for its staff on campus, using lateral flow tests. The tests will also be offered to students when they are able to return to campus as lockdown restrictions are reduced. As part of the testing scheme, staff are offered free lateral flow tests twice a week to help stop the spread of the virus and to keep the college operating as safely as possible. The lateral flow tests include a throat and nose swab, with results delivered in half an hour of completing the test.

Carlton School opts to become academy joining Selby trust

Phil Sayles Principal of Selby College ANOTHER North Yorkshire primary school has opted out of local authority control and become an academy. Carlton-in-Snaith Primary School has agreed to convert to an academy and now becomes an official part of Selby Educational Trust (SET), working alongside Selby College who act as a trust sponsor. Carlton are the second school to join the trust alongside Selby Primary School which joined up back in 2017 when the trust was formed. SET came in to being to support schools in Selby and outlying areas to increase the learning potential of each child by helping them succeed in each of their subjects, building their levels of motivation and confidence and raising their aspirations to progress to higher levels of study.
