Town chairman David Sheepshanks is reportedly one of four members of the FA s main board who will seek to scupper the appointment of the organisation s new chief executive at a meeting this afternoon.
Chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that off-field staff at Portman Road will be subject to a pay freeze this year. The freeze applies to all non-footballing employees, including management, and is something which affects the whole Marcus Evans Group.
Town director and FA board member David Sheepshanks is backing England boss Fabio Capello, despite his side’s dreadful showing at the World Cup in South Africa. Sheepshanks and the rest of the FA board are set to meet to discuss Capello’s future next week.
Town manager George Burley last night accepted his award at the League Managers Association dinner and quickly praised his players and staff. Alex Ferguson and David O Leary were named as runners-up while Garard Houllier was given a special award by Nationwide, the sponsors.
