Man charged with first-degree murder after shooting death in Rolla

ROLLA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Rolla man is charged with first-degree murder and other charges after a man dies Thursday night after a shooting.
According to a news release from the Phelp s County Sheriff s Office, around 11:25 p.m. Thursday night, deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 11000 block of Highway 72.
In the investigation, officers said they found a critically wounded 35-year-old man lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound.
The news release reported the man was identified as Michael Jonathan Schmitt of St. James, Missouri. He was transported to Phelps Health where he later died.
