he seemed to be a downton abbey fan. so are you. republican party scrambling this morning trying to come up with a list of replacements for congressman aaron schock whose sudden resignation has party leaders reeling now. schock says the growing scandal over his lavish spending and questions of his ethics have become a distraction. abc s karen travers has the latest. reporter: embattled congressman aaron schock did just that, announcing tuesday he s stepping down. in a statement the 33-year-old republican lawmaker said constant questions over the past six weeks have proven a great distraction that has made it too difficult for him to serve his constituents in the illinois area. at first the questions were focused on his lavish spending on his washington, d.c. office, decorated to look like something out of the hit british tv show downton abbey. bright red walls, chandelier and a vase of pheasant feathers. i have never been an old crusty white guy.
