"Mask Up, Back Up, Vax Up" campaign aims to slow the spread of COVID-19 in African Heritage communities

Created: January 27, 2021 09:23 PM Long standing health disparities have put people from racial minority groups at a higher risk of contracting, being hospitalized for and sadly, even dying from COVID-19. To address these disparities in members of the African Heritage community here in Duluth, local organizations launched a new campaign called “Mask Up, Back Up, Vax Up.” On Wednesday, the creators of the campaign shared their motivation for putting it together, as well as, data that went into it in a virtual public meeting. Dr. Olihe Okoro from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy Duluth campus explained that they surveyed 182 Northland males and females age 18 to 81 of African heritage about COVID-19.
