Covid-19: Is Ivermectin already legal in SA?
A former Springbok rugby player has launched a court application for the use of Ivermectin to treat Covid-19 patients claiming it is already legal.
Ivermectin is currently a legally dispensable drug in South Africa due to a technical oversight by the country’s medicines regulator, civil rights organisation AfriForum and former Springbok Rugby player, Hannes Strydom intend arguing in a Pretoria High Court application later this month.
AfriForum and Dr George Coetzee earlier launched a legal challenge against the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) asking the court to allow doctors to prescribe ivermectin formulated for human use to treat patients with COVID-19.
