Supporters of the Rush Line bus rapid transit project say it will transform spotty public transportation service in the east metro, especially for a rising number of people who live in poverty and those without a car.
But a budding group of skeptics are asking whether it s wise to forge ahead with the project, which would connect Union Depot in St. Paul to White Bear Lake, as people continue to work from home in the post-COVID-19 economy.
And others worry that frequent bus service every 10 to 15 minutes during rush hour would compromise the small-town feel of downtown White Bear Lake.
St. Paul Announces Road Closures To Support Outdoor Activities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter announced closures of four city streets to vehicle traffic to support physically distant outdoor activities this spring and summer on Wednesday.
According to a recent statement from the city of St. Paul, the closures are created to support walking and biking in and around three park areas.
The areas include Como Regional Park, Phalen Regional Park and Cherokee Regional Park, as well as the southbound vehicle lane along Mississippi River Boulevard.
The closures start this weekend April 16-18 and run through mid-July.
