VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a very balanced offense and a strong second half for a 75-46 win over Fargo North at the Hi-Liner Activity Center Tuesday night in girls basketball.
The 75 points is a season high for Valley City as eight different players scored for the Hi-Liners and six of those had at least eight points.
North lead most of the first half following a three-pointer by Emily Skalicky with 16:22 to go in the first half to take a 5-4 lead. That lead would expand to five at 9-4 after Grace Miller’s inside bucket banked in to with 14:48 to go in the half.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Devils Lake used a 15-0 run as part of a 15-5 start on the way to a 67-50 win over Valley City in High School Basketball Friday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City got a 3-pointer and a bucket inside by Samantha Hatcher to take a 5-0 lead 90 seconds into the game. But Malayna Barendt would start the run that gave the Firebirds the lead. Jailyn Martinson would end the run with a bucket inside with 13:00 to go in the first half. That lead would grow to 14 at 22-8 after a Martinson bucket inside with 10:29 remaining.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Maya Metcalf scored 19 points in the first half and West Fargo Sheyenne used a 14-4 run to take a seven point lead, a lead they won’t not lose in a 73-66 win over Valley City in Eastern Dakota Conference girls basketball Friday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City jumped out to a 6-1 lead but the lead never got bigger than that for the Hi-Liners. The game would be tied at 9, 13, 15, 20 and 22.
Valley City took its last lead at 24-22 on Tesa Olson’s bucket with 2:36 remaining in the half. That’s when the Mustangs went on a 9-0 run to open up a 31-24 lead. They would take the lead for good at 26-24 on Alivia Manson’s three pointer with 2:23 to go in the first half. That lead was at seven 31-24, when Samantha Hatcher hit a three pointer from the left corner with 34 seconds left to make it 31-27. But Jadyn Feist and Maya Metcalf executed a perfect two person fast break to score at the horn to make it 33-27 at the half.
GRAND FORKS, N.D (NewsDakota.com) – Grand Forks Red River used a 16-2 run in the to open up a 14 point lead that grew to 30 at one point in the second half in a 80-51 win over Valley City in high school girls basketball Thursday night in Grand Forks.
Jade Azure led the way for the Roughriders with 23 points as Red River stay unbeaten in the conference. Alex Page had 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Red River. Jocelyn Schiller had 14 points and Jasmine Sondrol chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. Ella Fossed added six points, six assists and six steals.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo South used a 15-3 run in the second half to turn a two point game into a 14 point game on the way to a 73-63 win over Valley City in high school girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
The game was close for most of the first half. The Bruins had a 14-7 lead thanks to a 12-2 run. But the Hi-Liners would go on a 11-2 run themselves to take a 18-16 lead with 6:25 remaining in the half. But the Bruins get the final bucket in a back and forth final few minutes to lead 29-27 at the break.
