The City of Sioux Falls is spinning up a new division aimed at simplifying how the city works to improve its neighborhoods.
The duties of the Neighborhood Revitalization Division, which will officially launch June 1, range from working with neighbors on property issues and code compliance to rehabilitating older properties and boosting community engagement.
Mayor Paul TenHaken announced the new division in his 2021 State of the City address, saying the city s approach to improved accessible housing also requires continued emphasis on the preservation and revitalization of existing homes.
All important work, and things city staff have been doing for years, said Jeff Eckhoff, director of planning and development for the city. But the different tasks have been spread out, creating inefficiency and confusion in some places.
