Yonekura, Ferrari book Olympic tickets in Doha

Doha: Japan’s Hidenobu Yonekura yesterday qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by winning the men’s Vault final at the 13th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup at Aspire Dome.
The Doha leg was specifically designed by FIG for individual specialists and was applicable to those who couldn’t qualify to the Games through the 2018-2019 World Championships. Before heading into the MAG vault final, South Korea’s Shin Jeahwan led the overall rankings.
But Yonekura overtook the Korean with a score of 15.016 in the final that earned him a ticket to Tokyo. Igor Radivilov and Andrey Medvedev finished second and third respectively on the podium.
Ukraine win team title at European Men s Artistic Gymnastics Championships Saturday, 12 December 2020
Ukraine were clear victors as the nation wrapped up the team title at the European Men s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Turkish city Mersin - a day after also winning the junior team title.
Ukraine s team, featuring Vladyslav Hryko, Petro Pakhniuk, Igor Radivilov, Roman Vashchenko and Yevgen Yudenkov, competed well on the floor and pommel horse to take an early lead which they never relinquished.
Radivilov scored 14.600 on rings and 14.800 on the vault, while Pakhniuk scored 14.400 on pommel horse and 15.066 on the parallel bars.
These performances were enough to secure the gold for Ukraine, who finished with a total score of 248.963, more than four points ahead of their closest challengers.
