A new oversight board for Orange County s Industrial Development Agency has fired the company that was set to earn up to $738,000 this year to run the office and its support programs for fledgling businesses.
And, in another sudden change, Laurie Villasuso, the agency s CEO, resigned on Monday after almost 10 years with the IDA.
She said in a statement to the Times Herald-Record that she was deeply proud of her economic development work for the county, but concerned about the agency s new direction and uncertainty surrounding my role within the present makeup of the organization.
The resignation took effect immediately. Villasuso s 2019 salary was $154,458, the most recent available figure.
