April 19, 2021 - 7:24 AM Three wildfires near Merritt are forcing more than a dozen residences to be prepared to evacuate. The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has put the homes in two different parts of the regional district, including the Miller Estates subdivision as well as the Canford community, on evacuation alert as of 10 p.m. last night, April 18.  One fire south of Merritt was discovered near Coldwater April 15 and is estimated at three hectares in size. Another fire to the west near Petit Creek, discovered April 18, is currently listed at 100 ha and a third fire in the same area is estimated at a half ha by B.C. Wildfire.
