People and things are getting heated but they werent violent. In fact it wasnt until after trump took the stage that that is when the fight started breaking out. Since then, the protesters made their way away from the San Jose Convention center. That is where the rally was taking place. They ended up marching down park avenue. I took some video of what happened. This support corner of park avenue. Its by the 87 freeway. That is where the police lines, they divided the protesters into 2 groups. Some of the protesters went north and some stayed south with me. At that point police said they were declaring this and off level an unlawful assembly. And anyone who did not scatter would be arrested. I did have a moment to talk to a protester who was very upset about what was going on. They took it upon themselves to take our signs and smashed them. We were standing there chanting. All of us, the group i can with weve been nonviolent the entire time. Reporter julie, i just spoke with the San Jose Police officer who tells me that there are still some protesters who are around the downtown area. Possibly as many as 100 but they are trying to break that up. Earlier today this street was packed with more than 500 people. It was tense and very emotionally charged. Take a look. [ yelling ] reporter some of the protesters were taunting the Trump Supporters as they left the Convention Center. Some of the Trump Supporters were taunting back. Then it got heated and violent. At one point part of the group swarmed into the Hotel Driveway trapping one woman who was wearing a trump shirt. She was making gestures back at the crowd and then someone from the crowd three raw eggs hitting her in the head she was up against the wall. The Hotel Finally let her in. Reporter the suspect then fired shots into the backdoor of this complete strangers home and barricaded himself. Ktvu cameras were rolling as union city and newark s. W. A. T. Officers fired dealer gas into the home. Villabrille called tear gas into the home. Villabrille called 911 claiming falsely to have a hostage. The suspect was unable or unwilling to come out. He ignited a fire that destroyed the home. Police found the gun the suspect used to fire at the officers in the burned out remains. The chief says the department is hoping both officers pull through. My initial emotion is that im struck by the nobility of the actions of not only the officers involved in the incident, but of all of our field operating personnel and reflective of the level of service thats provided by all of our Police Agencies all the time on a regular ongoing basis.
