MARTINSVILLE For the last several years, the city has been wanting to extend its water and sewer utility from the west side of Ind. 37 to the east near Ind. 44.
One of the reasons for this was the Community Chrysler dealership that was looking at purchasing property on the east side of the Ind. 37/future I-69 corridor.
During Wednesday s meeting of the Martinsville Redevelopment Commission, however, it was noted that the utility extension was on hold. The Chrysler dealership is not longer actively trying to buy that property from Faith Church, Martinsville Director of Planning and Engineering Gary Oakes said. So, we are certainly in no hurry to go up there.
