Six schools in Olympia and Tumwater are named for those who have indeed laid those strong foundations. Not all are without their faults, but learning about those faults can teach people what to avoid when moving forward.
Beer history in Olympia started with Leopold Schmidt in 1896. He formed the Olympia Brewing Company in 1902. Peter G. Schmidt continued the family's legacy.
The school board unanimously selected Kevin Bogatin as superintendent on March 9. He officially begins on July 1, although he has already hit the ground running by communicating with stakeholders.
