Ignacio Prado has noticed a change at Futuro Academy in East Las Vegas ever since the pandemic: More parents are keeping their kids at home if they are sick.
Chronic absenteeism rates ticked down slightly in the 2022-2023 school year but remain much higher than before the pandemic. Officials said the pandemic fostered a decrease in student engagement.
