The Cool Parts Show was created as a way to highlight the innovative, unique and impressive ways that 3D printing is advancing manufacturing. Since launching this video series in October 2019, Peter Zelinski and I have cohosted more than 25 episodes about cool 3D printed parts. We’ve discussed everything from tiny electrical connectors to submarine housings to brackets destined for Mars.
But now, we’re inviting viewers to be a part of the process with our first-ever contest, The Cool Parts Showcase. The contest is open to anyone using 3D printing to solve real-world problems, including students, designers and makers as well as manufacturers.

Starting this month,
Modern Machine Shop is bringing its voice (literally) to a new medium. MMS’s new podcast, “Made in the USA,” is available now within your favorite podcast platform.
The trailer is out now, and we expect episode 1 to drop in mid to late March.
Podcast hosts are senior editor Brent Donaldson (foreground) and me.
This is not MMS covering the same subject matter we do in the magazine in a different format. Rather, the podcast, which is hosted by senior editor Brent Donaldson and me, offers a format that will allow us to explore big topics in U.S. manufacturing and report big stories meaning the stories that require many voices to tell, and topics that are too important not to examine squarely given where we find ourselves in manufacturing right now.
