Spending Christmas on credit can add up in the new year.
Polling for Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) shows that almost half of people in Scotland (45 per cent) are planning to spend less than usual this Christmas, but that 16 per cent are planning to pay for their Christmas by taking on debt.
The polling, carried out for CAS by YouGov, shows that only five per cent are planning to spend more this Christmas. But of those, 41 per cent are doing so to make their family feel better after a tough year.
