There is a call for SADC private sector to enhance manufacturing capabilities through building a strong portfolio in pharmaceuticals and prioritising industrialisation. This was the sentiment passed by the SADC Secretariat (represented by the SADC Executive Secretary, Her Excellency Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax) in a recent virtual meeting with the SADC Business Council (represented by Chairperson, Mr. Eduardo Sengo and Executive Secretary Mr Peter Varndell).
On discussing the operationalisation of the SADC Business Council, it was agreed that the constitution of the organ will be guided by elements of the SADC Treaty, including other statutory documents such as the legal instruments, the SADC Vision 2050 and Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-30.
