Peter Toomey, 51, was arraigned in Greenfield District Court Wednesday afternoon, appearing before Judge Mark Pasquariello on charges resulting from a hit-and-run that killed 45-year-old Rhonda Thompson of Shelburne Falls. Toomey pleaded not guilty on charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, negligent motor vehicle homicide and failure to stay in marked lanes.

A 59-year-old Northampton, Massachusetts man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 45-year-old pedestrian, the Northwestern District Attorney’s office said.
Rhonda Thompson, a 45-year-old Shelburne Falls resident, died on the scene after being struck while walking along Route 2 with a companion around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the district attorney’s office. GREENFIELD Peter Toomey, 51, of Northampton, is scheduled to be arraigned today in Greenfield District Court on charges resulting from a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian walking on Route 2 in Shelburne on Tuesday.
According to the Northwestern district attorney’s office, Toomey faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, negligent motor vehicle homicide and failure to stay in marked lanes.
The hit-and-run led to the death of a 45-year-old Shelburne Falls woman. She was struck while walking along Route 2 with a friend at around 6:30 a.m on Tuesday, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the DA’s office. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
