be making the defensive because it makes them look like they re not fully forthcoming, but i also agree with peter. the point here is, you can get that information through testimony. it should be under oath. but the reams of evidence, the reams of evidence already implicating donald trump, and i haven t heard or seen any secret service agents claiming that she was not being consistent with what she was seeing or hearing from their view when she was saying he was demanding to go there. that puts him directly into some form of possible conspiracy, solicitation, or other crimes related to not just, you know, interfering with the authority of the united states government, which is its own felony, but possibly sedition. you know, claudia, no one understands exactly how the secret service functions or where they are or how much they know than the daughter of a president or vice president. i mean, liz cheney knows exactly
thank you for being with us. dominic, gas prices, grocery prices, housing prices, the price of eggs, the price of chicken, the price of food, the price of maet, the price of vegetables all going up. what sort of economic environment is the president trying to address? it s the worst inflationary environment in 40 years, jose. that s the point. unfortunately this isn t something that you want to see on your watch, especially if you re the president of the united states, but there s a real question as to how much a president can do to address those issues as peter points out. we ve seen those steps being taken. we ve seen those steps that he ll play out today, including releasing more oil from the strategic petroleum reserve. those constraints are only part of the story. you have a lot more people demanding things like fuel, demanding things like food. those higher prices haven t yet started to impact people s
the reasons that they were left were myriad. in new york they eliminated plain clothes officers and cut a billion dollars from the overall budget. police officers felt that nobody had their back and they weren t supported, they re retiring in droves. that s the issue that we re dealing with here, not something that could have been potentially fixed by a little bit more money and a covid rescue bill, which as peter points out was never the focus of that bill. i think the issue we re dealing with is that homicide rates, not crime rates, but homicide rates are up martha: that s not true. robberies are up. every i can show you the numbers. it s across the board. i m talking about nationally. look at cities where there s republican mayors, this is true for them, too. jacksonville, fort worth, miami, oklahoma city. this is not a democrat or republican problem. it s a problem nationally. one is the factor that cuts through? guns.
negotiations with iran and the taliban. with bolton out, does it mean we re closer now to those things happening? well, absolutely. and you know, stephanie, there s, you know, the u.n. meetings later this month in new york city. and the trump administration seems to be almost chasing a meeting with the iranians. you know, the iranians have not indicated that they want to sit down bilaterally with president trump, but he keeps making the point that he would like to sit down with the iranians. and part of what we re seeing here is he s entering into an election year, stephanie. he s gotten a lot of balls in the air, a lot of planes that need to land here. we ve got iran resuming its nuclear program, we ve got north korea still building new nuclear weapons, the war in afghanistan is still ongoing, even though president trump promised to bring it to an end, the china trade war is escalating. he wants to get some agreements somewhere to show that he s landing some of these planes. and bol
did, and by tying him to the kavanaugh confirmation saying, quo quote, you know, here we go again with, you know, you are guilty up till proven innocent. i don t like that. we just went through that with justice kavanaugh and he was innocent all of the way. so as peter points out, jonathan, he is trying to make an economic argument and distance himself from having any business dealings with the the saudis in spite of the fact that on both of the fronts simply not true. right. we asked him yesterday if this investigation would lead him to re-evaluate the united states relationship with saudi arabia and brought up what lindsey graham brought up, and graham is one of the top allies on a number of issues, and suggested that they are not fit to lead, and rethink how they did it in the united kingdom, and so he has stressed and made mention of the military sales, and did make this stunning comparison from
