Neil Allan McEwen, 84, of Crosslake, Minnesota passed away in the presence of his family on Saturday, March 12, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Maxine (nee Lysfjord), son Gregory, daughter Gretchen Felton (Brian), grandchildren Joia, Cody and Holden, and siblings Elizabeth Deere and Ortie Kinshella. He is predeceased by parents Lorne and Josephine McEwen, son Garth, and siblings Doris West, Helen Erickson, Peter McEwen, Lorne McEwen, and Ruth Moose.

The Seafarers Hospital Society (SHS) has appointed Captain Kuba Szymanski as the new Chair of the board of the 200-year-old UK maritime charity, following the retirement of Peter McEwen MBE MNM. Capt. Szymanski is Secretary-General for InterManager, the international trade association for the ship and crew management sector, and has a well-deserved reputation for advocating .

At the May 3 committee-of-the-whole meeting, Hanover council heard the town is in need of a new fire hall, and the Hanover Police Service is in need of two additions to its existing police station.
Last year, council recommended an Emergency Services Facility Review Committee be formed to conduct a review of the current state of emergency services facilities in Hanover and provide options to meet the physical needs for these services for the next 25 years.

On May 3 committee chair Peter McEwen presented the report on behalf of the members, which included vice-chair Chris Karcher of the Hanover Fire Department, Hanover Coun. Dave Hocking, Don Smith of the Hanover Police Service Board, Bill Roberts, a public appointee, and Hanover CAO Brian Tocheri.
