Homeless outreach advocates recently met with city officials to clarify procedures for encampment clean-ups going forward after concerns were raised late last year.

Helping out families 10 minutes away
Recently I visited the Peter Maurin Center on South Main Street. It’s just 10 minutes away from our home. I’ve known about the center but never visited. Peter Maurin is an outreach ministry for Akron’s homeless to receive a hot meal, comfort and support.
My mission was to drop off a supply of new winter jackets that our family company had in inventory. These jackets were sitting in a heated warehouse while one of our neighbors fights daily to keep warm. At Peter Maurin, I was greeted by Dave, one of the many volunteers. The center is operated solely by our neighbor volunteers.
