The Ontario Ministry of Health says it is up to KW where it wants to locate a new hospital and the cities are not restricted to sites with morethan 50 acres. The site selection committee says it the province required sites with more than 50 acres, but the health ministry says no, that is up to the cities.
When the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital is built – and construction is slated to start in 2025 – it will house within it the province’s first Women’s and Children’s Hospital. In the meantime, however, until the new hospital is built to replace the existing facility at 100 Queensway W., Trillium Health Partners has announced that beginning in 2025, all women’s and children’s services – including labour and delivery, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and other gynecological and reproductive health services – will be transitioned to Credit Valley Hospital.
Trillium Health Partners (THP) and the government of Ontario are building a hospital for women and children in Mississauga to further advance health care in Mississauga and west Toronto.
