Indian outsourcing giant Infosys has joined forces with Australia’s Deakin University to develop a strategic action plan for research, innovation and skill development.
Under the collaboration, the organisations will work together, combining their strengths in emerging technologies and design to innovate at scale.
The collaboration was formalised this week by Professor Iain Martin, President and Vice Chancellor, Deakin University and Ashok Mysore, Vice President and Regional Head – Delivery and Operations, Infosys, who signed an agreement at the University’s Burwood campus in Melbourne.

has completed a $99 million funding round led by global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners,
SafetyCulture says its valuation has soared to $2.2 billion following the funding round and “smashing past” its previous unicorn status from April 2020.
Insight Partners, along with existing investors Tiger Global,Index Ventures and Blackbird, will support the expansion of the business as it continues to evolve from a checklist app into an operations platform for working teams.

The telecommunications industry regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Australian Financial Crimes Exchange (AFCX) which enables the exchange of information about unauthorised mobile number porting when it’s used for scams, fraud and financial crime.
The ACMA says it uses the information from the AFCX - an independent organisation formed by the four major banks that operates as a not for profit to assist businesses combat financial-related crimes - to enforce new rules that require telcos to adequately verify a customer’s identity before transferring a phone number from another telco.

Modern tractors, harvesters and other agricultural machinery use complex computerised systems that involve embedded software and specific tools and parts, and the competition regulator the ACCC says purchasers of the machinery would benefit from more independent competition in servicing and repair markets.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission made its comments after conducting a detailed study of agricultural machinery markets in Australia.
In its report released on Tuesday, the ACCC looks at a range of competition and fair trading issues in markets for the direct sale of agricultural machinery, as well as for after-sales services, such as repairs.

ASX-listed Canberra-based cyber security firm archTIS has won a contract valued at $296,000 with the Australian Department of Defence for the expanded deployment of its NC Protect platform.
The contract is a software support engagement for archTIS for architecture and implementation services for the migration of NC Protect.
