Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area to Host Community Listening Session JUPITER, Fl. – The Bureau of Land Management will host its third annual community listening session regarding management of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Due to health concerns, the meeting will be via Zoom. “Maintaining our relationships with our stakeholders, public, and communities is extremely important to the BLM and we want to continue to provide the public an opportunity to make suggestions concerning future management decisions for the ONA,” said Robert Swithers, Southeastern States District Manager. JUPITER  The historic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse will go dark Sunday and Monday while the Florida Department of Transportation conducts nearby tests. The agency will install and collect data from sensitive vibration monitoring equipment that will help assess potential noise and vibration impacts during the U.S.1 Bridge Replacement Project. Work on the $133 million project is expected to get underway in 2023. The Bureau of Land Management is coordinating with the United States Coast Guard, the Loxahatchee River Historic Society and the FDOT to protect the 160-year-old lighthouse and its first-order Fresnel lens during construction.
