Wiltshire police want witnesses A MAN has been arrested following several reports of catalytic converters being stolen in the Downton area. Shortly after midnight this morning (January 29), police received a call to Breamore Road to a report of an alleged theft of a catalytic convertor from a car. A blue Vauxhall Corsa was linked to the offence and was stopped by Salisbury Community Policing Team officers, supported by specialist firearms officers, in London Road, less than 15 minutes after the first call had been made. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal, theft and a public order offence. He was taken to Melksham Police Station where he remains in custody.

In the early hours of Thursday, January 28, between 3 and 4am, a vehicle is believed to have travelled from the Lover or Redlynch area towards Hamptworth and Landford, leaving a trail of damage . This included damage to a road sign at the junction of Timberley Lane in Redlynch, a vehicle parked in a layby at Hamptworth Road and further damage to a telephone box opposite the Cuckoo Inn in Hamptworth. The silver Jeep,. Picture from Salisbury Police Facebook page BALL bearings and pheasants were found in the back of an abandoned car late on Saturday night. Police officers were out on patrol when their attention was drawn to a silver Jeep on Wick Lane, Downton. The officers wanted to speak with the driver, temporarily losing sight of the vehicle as it turned into Mesh Pond where the officers found the car abandoned at the side of the road with the passenger door open. On searching the vehicle, they located a mobile phone, cash and a bank card, along with ball bearings and pheasants.
