Bush in the persian gulf dropped at least one 500pound laserguided bomb on an isis artillery piece that was shelling kurdish positions near the city of irbil. Thats a city where scores of americans are operating out of the u. S. Consulate there and president obama said last night that he had authorized strikes in the event that isis columns started advancing on irbil. We do not know yet for sure whether the artillery piece has been destroyed, but we do know for sure that the two f18s are safely off the target. David, you mentioned the pair of f18s and this first strike. Do you expect there to be more . Reporter i do because in addition to defending irbil, the president has also authorized air strikes to break the siege around that mountain where isis has stranded these thousands and thousands of iraqi refugees. So in addition to those air drops, which are intended to keep them alive, that is only a shortterm solution, and sooner or later, if isis doesnt pull out of there, the u. S. Wil

Possible. You see the smashed glass there in front of the wells fargo bank. And the camera pulling back now, showing more demonstrators up and down telegraph. We have seen violence up and down that street for the past half hour or so. This all started actually around 5 00 this afternoon. A march by hundreds of people. Peaceful for several hours. But about 9 00 tonight, protester moved on to eastbound highway 24, blocking traffic. When officers moved on toe clear the highway, they say someone threw some type of explosive at the chp. Take a look at video we have right now of what the chp did at that point. Lets just say that they detonated tear gas and the crowd dispersed. The crowd rushed away. The tactic worked. The clairemont exit off of 24 was cleared. And the chp says they did that in response to an explosive being thrown at them. This was a scene a few minutes earlier on eastbound 24. Traffic brought to a stand still. Crowds chanting and waving signs. Some demonstrators hurling roc

Im frank mallicoat. 5 00. And we have some more earthquake activity here in northern california. Lets check in with lawrence to find out where the aftershocks were. A little up north, i guess, right . Yeah, slightly different fault. Numerous earthquakes on the napa fault since early sunday morning, more than 80 aftershocks already and continuing to see some of that out there right now. Those earthquakes really centered right along that fault zone and then you move a little further to the north this morning and just over an hour ago we had another quake north of healdsburg about 7 miles out of town. Then you can see just to the right of that, that cluster of earthquakes, that is right at the geysers. Of course, they get earthquakes all the time there. But more likely, we are going to continue to see more of these aftershocks continuing across much of the north bay. Of course, well continue to keep track of that here at channel 5. Back to you guys. The grim discovery came after a group was out for a walk and then noticed someone was missing. Reporter thats right. And firefighters just arrive ing on scene a short time ago. If you look over my shoulder. You can get a glimpse of them hard at work trying to recover the body of a 20yearold man who apparently fell while he was hiking with friends in this area. The friends called police when he disappeared on their hike. Police found his body 200 feet down a ravine. They are trying to figure out if indeed he lost his footing and fell. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Because of how rough the terrain is, firefighters are having to assist to extricate the body from the area. It happened on the property of the uc berkeley campus. But the person who died was not affiliated with the university in any way. They have not yet identified him. And so far there are no signs that this was foul play. Two women home alone managed to fight off a prowler who broke into their apartment and tried to

Reporter yeah, raj, this is why its the poster child. You can barely see the house in the background. That caught fire over the summer. Its across the street from station 30. There are trucks here, fire trucks but there are no fire engines meaning no water support and no water hoses attached to any of these trucks. So virtually, when that fire struck, the firefighters had to watch it burn until help from another station arrived with hoses and with fire engines. The fire union now says something has got to give. The president of the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association couldnt believe it, so he stopped by station 30 to see for himself. All they have is a ladder truck so the best they can do and sit and watch it burn. Reporter they have support trucks but no engine or hoses to put out flames and it cost them when this home across the street from the station caught fire over the summer. It really is a system that was already very thin and now its stretched to the point where we really are
