Youngsters in Holly Ward at Hinchingbrooke Hospital now have plenty to keep them entertained, thanks to a team of volunteers.
Members of Volunteer Blood Runners - Service by Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV) - dropped off a range of arts and crafts activities, playdough, colouring books and puzzle books. Holly Ward reported that providing play at present is very different as the resources that they have at present are single use and play areas are not open, said Pete Brindley from SERV.
A group of volunteers stepped up to the mark coming from Bury, Ramsey, Peterborough and Soham and with the help of local community via social media provided items to the hospital.
Police said a Redding man used an assault rifle to shoot and severely injure his girlfriend and a neighbor at an apartment complex Friday night.
The shooting by 36-year-old Benjamin Pouvi Fata left the woman and man in critical condition, police said. The two victims were being treated for their gunshot wounds at a local hospital and their names are not being released at this time.
While officers were attending to the gunshot victims, police Lt. Pete Brindley said they saw flames at another apartment.
Police said Pouvi Fata tried to set his apartment on fire following the shooting, which occurred while two small children were present. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.
