Malta s official song for the Eurovision Song Festival, Destiny Chukunyere s Je Me Casse, was released on Monday.
The 18-year-old will be performing the song at the festival in Rotterdam in May, after last year s edition was cancelled because of the pandemic.
The young woman earned her spot as Malta’s Eurovision entry by virtue of winning the second edition of X Factor Malta.
She was meant to represent the island with her song
All My Love last year, however, the competition was cancelled for the first time in its 64-year history.
Since the Eurovision contest organisers decided that 2020 song entries would not be allowed in this year s festival, Destiny had to launch a new song for this year s edition, which will take place in Rotterdam.

Destiny Chukunyere has premiered her new single ‘Je Me Casse’, which will be the Maltese entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Malta already stated early in the season that they were going to keep Destiny as their singer for the contest in Rotterdam.
In 2015, Destiny represented Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria. There, she ended up winning with a record of 185 points. EBU invited her as a guest at the Eurovision Grand Final in 2016.
As she grew older, her soulful voice developed even further making her the powerhouse she is today. She has been compared to legends such as Aretha Franklin who happens to be one of Destiny’s music idols.

Je Me Casse is an uptempo song which has an instant good feel factor impact on the listener. It encompasses various musical twists , from the electro swing vibe to the pop pre-chorus showcasing the sassy aspect which is then followed up with a four-on-the-floor rhythm.
