Dougherty wasn’t impressed, and a stand-up was born.
“I thought I was funnier, so I did it,” Dougherty said matter-of-factly.
A relative newcomer to the comedy scene, what sets Dougherty apart immediately from your average host or feature act is his deadpan delivery and risk-taking material.
It’s part Mitch Hedberg, part Louis CK, part Doug Stanhope, and it seems effortless. Since taking to the stage just over a year ago, Dougherty has already featured for comedy veterans Jim Florentine, Bret Ernst and Annie Lederman.
He’ll feature for another comedy veteran in Mike Conley on Saturday at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls. He will also appear as part of The Funny Stop s Back to the Co-Feature Contest Finals on Tuesday.
