Religious View: See world through the eyes of Christ Religious View: Perry Polk In the liturgical calendar, today is the Sunday of “Joy” in the Advent calendar – the joy at the nearness of the Lord. It is called “Gaudete Sunday,” after the Latin word for rejoice. Pretty much universally, the Scripture readings today are Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24; Psalms 126 and John 1:6-8,19-28. I read a parable by Reuven Gold some time ago which captures the essence of the Isaiah reading and my church’s vision as a people of God. “We worship together on a journey of faith seeking to serve Christ in each person.”
